HTC announced the Rezound smartphone for Verizon's 4G LTE network today at a press event in New York. HTC is focusing heavily on the phone's Beats audio certification, but its specs are also impressive, with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 720p display.
Jason Mackenzie, HTC's president of global sales and marketing called the Rezound "a phone that has music at its soul." Keeping with the Beats brand, the phone will ship with a pair of "high-quality" Beats-branded heaphones. The phone will have 1GB of RAM, the aforementioned 720p display, and 32GB of storage (16GB internal and 16GB on an included SD card) but will not ship with Ice Cream Sandwich. The phone will launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and HTC notes the phone will be "Ice Cream Sandwich-ready," able to take on the Android 4 update quickly when it is released.
The Rezound's 8-megapizel camera will have an f2.2 lens, and will be able to record 1080p video. Mackenzie also announced proudly that the camera will be able to record and play back slow-motion video in the recording application.
The Rezound will be priced at $299.99 with a two-year contract and be available on November 14. Stay tuned for out hands-on impressions in a follow-up article.
