Have you ever heard of NFC? If not, the first thing you should know is that it stands for Near Field Communication. The next thing you should know is that it’s a way of exchanging information between your phone and a device such as an NFC credit card reader or an NFC ticket gate for example.
As Mark Guim from The Nokia Blog notes – Nokia have just launched an online service to help businesses who want to start using NFC solutions. It is called NFC Hub and it lets businesses buy generic NFC tagged posters, aimed at directing people to websites, Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and other URLs. Mark continues that Nokia predict NFC tags will be everywhere, and used for many different things.
Are you still wondering how it works? Well, it is pretty simple, customers simply “tap” an NFC-enabled mobile (like the Nokia Astound or Nokia N9) against a poster that contains a small tag – check out this very quick demonstration which makes things a bit clearer.

How quick & easy does that look!? – and this is just the beginning! Just imagine, in the future NFC phones may also be used as identity documents, airline tickets, electronic keys for cars, hotel rooms and office buildings.
You can follow up your intrigue by reading Mark’s full post and of course we’d be happy to know what you think about that @WOMWorldNokia.
