Zinio and Nokia announced a partnership today to launch an app for the world’s largest digital newsstand exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8. Zinio is already on iOS, Android, and Windows 8. Exact release date for Nokia Lumia devices was not mentioned in the press release.
Zinio lets you purchase digital copies of poplar magazines. For example, a copy of one issue of Esquire costs $4.99, while a one year 12-issue subscription of Popular Photography costs $14.99.
Here are the new features for the Nokia-exclusive Windows Phone 8 app:
- Reading List – a seamless, up to the minute stream of select articles from trending magazines and full issues from user libraries, available offline and online
- Background downloading – Reading Lists update automatically while on wireless, fetching new articles and magazines.
- Personalization features – new preference picker allows users to define the article stream in their Reading List by area of interest
- Windows Phone 8 live tile support, bookmarks, pinning, and more
- Improved text mode support for easy reading on smartphone screens
