One of the great features of Dropbox is the ability to share files that you host on the server with other users. You can share folders with other users which basically gives all authorized users access to it. Besides the sharing of folders, you can also share links to files or folders instead. The core difference here is that you only get access to the files or the contents of the folders, but cannot modify them in any way.
To share a link simply right-click on a file or folder on Dropbox and select the share link context menu option. This opens a form that you can use to share the link by email, Facebook, Twitter, and add a message to it if you want.
The recipients of the share will be informed by email, on Facebook or Twitter about the new link. Up until now, you did not really have an option to look up all of the links that were shared with you easily.
Dropbox today announced a small change to its web-based version that helps you look up all the links that were shared with you previously.
To look up previously shared links open the Dropbox website and sign to your account if you have to. Once in the web interface, select links from the side menu. Here you see all of your links - that is links that you created - by default. The new entry "from others" next to it displays all links that were shared with you previously.
This makes it a lot easier to access the files and folders that were shared with you in the past again without having to look up emails or Facebook or Twitter messages.
Each item is listed with its name and type, folder or file, the last time it has been viewed, and an option to remove it from the listing in case you do not need it anymore. Just hit the x icon to remove it from the page.
