Seminar in Singapore: Deming’s Philosophy of Management

Seminar in Singapore: Deming’s Philosophy of Management:
The W. Edwards Deming Institute is working with NTUC LearningHub to offer Deming’s Philosophy of Management seminar in Singapore. I will be co-facilitating the 2 1/2 day seminar in Singapore with Kelly Allan. The seminar takes place October 29 to 31, this year.
In the seminar you will learn the way of thinking taught by Dr. W. Edwards Deming. Applying these ideas will allow your organization to remove barriers, increase efficiencies, reduce waste, boost employee engagement (through respect for people and effective management systems), stimulate innovation and understand your organisation and its real capabilities. As regular readers of this blog know I often write about these ideas here.
Some improvements are achieved just by stopping current practices and then enjoying productivity increases. Others require learning and understanding the four key components of the Deming’s Management system.

Seminar Overview
The seminar is conducted with facilitators. It is not lecture style, The seminar is interactive and significant time is spent in exercises and discussions. The seminar is based on Dr. Deming’s two books on management – Out of the Crisis and The New Economics.
The seminar focuses on understanding how the organization can work as a system, how an organization can learn as it develops, how to get the best out of people, and interpret data. The 4 components of Deming’s management system:

  • Appreciation for a system – understanding the organization as a system

  • Knowledge about variation – how to use data to improve and the mistakes to avoid

  • Theory of knowledge – how do we know what we know, and how management can predict future outcomes

  • Psychology – how to design management systems to create effective organizations, the human element must be central to management systems

Who Should Attend

The seminar material is applicable to senior executives and management in every size of business and service organization, education, retail, health care, government and manufacturing. It will benefit those being introduced to Deming’s thinking for the first time as well as those familiar with his philosophy.
