A new rumor is making the rounds the next generation of the iPhone might be called the iPhone Math. I don’t think this rumor adds up (see what I did right there) simply based on the fact that that is the stupidest name I’ve ever heard. For a company as image conscious as Apple, I don’t see any way that they would call a new iPhone the iPhone Math.
According to the rumored device will have a 4.8-inch screen with a release date of sometime around June. The rumor also claims that there is an iPhone 5S coming as well. The 5S name I can certainly believe. The rumor comes out of Taipei and claims Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Limited will be producing 90% of the devices.
While many will simply look at the name iPhone Math and dismissed the rumor as ridiculous altogether, Computer World points out comment by member qpdbqp on the MacRumors forums. This user claims that Math is a poor translation for the word Plus. The name iPhone Plus would make a bit more sense. Whether or not qpdbqp is right on the translation is unknown.
