The Hyper Text Markup Language, or HTML, is the code that creates Web pages. It consists of formatting tags inside brackets that tell a Web browser how to display text, pictures and other elements that comprise your Web page. You must put the correct tags around text if you want it to be comprehensible to the user, and without the proper tags to begin with, your Web page will not open in a browser.
