New York-based Sing for Hope recently moved from a shared office space to its own playful and colorful office with help from Rodriquez Studio.
Sing for Hope offers volunteer art services to underserved communities, schools, and hospitals – everything from opera singers and jazz musicians to painters and ballet dancers.
The new space has used a mixture of colorful furniture and walls – some with an awesome ascending gradient pattern – to enliven the once cold and barren space. An ingenious innovation are the sliding doors which offer the ability to close off certain segments of the office for social events or more private meetings. But of course, they can also be kept open to expoe the space to a flood of natural light.
Because of the non-profit’s natural budgetary constraints, many items and services were donated to the project. Steelcase offered the Kiwi-colored conference chairs, Humanscale pitched in the desk lamps, Rodriquez Studio designed the space, and Coalesse, West Elm, and a host of others pitched in as well.
One of my favorite features is the custom piano table which was designed and donated by Mark Righter of Cambium Woodworking.
