IFTTT now with Google Drive support

IFTTT now with Google Drive support:
I have reviewed IFTTT, which stands for If This Then That, back in December 2011 for the first time. It allows you to create automatic if then actions on the Internet, like receiving an email or SMS on certain weather forecasts, automatically tweet when you publish a new blog post, or automatically save all your uploaded photos to Dropbox.  You create recipes using the service that consists of triggers, actions and ingredients. Triggers are what initiates the actions, actions what you want done,  and ingredients the services or components that you want to make use of.
IFTTT supports a total of 51 different services and channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, WordPress, Tumblr, LinkedIn or Gmail.
Here are some popular recipes:

  • Send an email if there will be rain tomorrow

  • Find my phone (send an email to call the phone)

  • Dictate a voice memo and email transcription and mp3 file to yourself

  • Save email attachments to Dropbox

  • Email me an invite when a new startup is featured on betalist

  • Add new movie releases to Google Calendar

One of the latest additions ti IFTTT is Google Drive, Google’s cloud storage service which you can now use in recipes. IFTTT users have created a total of 114 recipes that include Google Drive in one form or the other.

Here is a selection of recipes:

  • Copy any Instagram picture you take to Google Drive

  • Save all your personal tweets to Google Drive

  • Archive Google Reader / Facebook posts to Google spreadsheet

  • Whenever you are photo tagged on Facebook, save that photo to Google Drive

  • Add files you upload to Dropbox also to Google Drive

IFTTT is definitely an interesting service, especially for users heavily involved on social media sites, but also for users who are not as it offers plenty of services and features that do not require social media accounts.
What I like about the service besides its ease of use is the recipe collection that you can take a look at. While it is fun and all to create your own recipes, third party recipes may provide you with additional inspiration to create new and exciting automations that suite your needs. (via Caschy)
