RTC Day 1, afternoon sessions

RTC Day 1, afternoon sessions:
After a filling lunch, we are into the afternoon sessions at Revit Technology Conference. Continuing on the Principal's Stream. During lunch, the spectacular sunshine outside turned to a light rain. Boo!
Dan Jurgens and Belinda Hodkinson are speaking on Shaping Change. Mr Jurgens talks about the qualifications and role of the BIM Manager. Ms Hodkinson concludes, "BIM implementation is more about business than technology."
Last session of the day for me is BIM Excellence: A Unique Approach to Performance Assessment and Certification by Bilal Succar of ChangeAgents AEC. His consulting firm specializes in measuring the actual BIM performance in projects, and then comparing it with the client's requirements. Assessments are based on...

  • training programs

  • modeling standards

  • exchanges processes

  • collaboration protocols

  • certification and auditing

For organizations, for instance, there are 68 measurement points. "It is not enough the assess the competency of the system or the manuals, but you must also assess the individuals." One user might be at 20%, another at 60% proficiency based on questionnaires that contain 150 to over 400 questions. (I gotta say, Mr Succar presents beautiful graphics.)
