Splashtop launched version 2 of its popular remote desktop software along with the new “Bridging Cloud” infrastructure, consisting of high performance clusters of secure Internet relay servers that bridge users with their computers and mobile devices all around the world.
First thing existing Splashtop iPad users will notice is a redesigned UI, which is (obviously) optimized for the Retina display, supporting up to 30 fps of streaming and sub-30-millisecond latency for smooth video and responsive gaming experience.
Setup is also easier and all you need is a username and password — forget about configuring routers or firewalls, or manually entering IP addresses or security codes. What’s more, with the addition of Anywhere Access Pack (available via in-app purchase), the same simple process allows you to connect from anywhere in the world, over the Internet.
Splashtop 2 for iPad will be available for a limited time at a promotional price of $1.99 (regular price $9.99), while the Anywhere Access Pack will go for $0.99 per month or $9.99 per year. Existing users of Splashtop Remote Desktop for iPad will receive a free upgrade to both the basic version and Anywhere Access Pack.
Splashtop 2 requires the downloading and installation of the free Splashtop Streamer software onto a Window PC or a Mac. The purchase of Splashtop 2 includes a license to access up to 2 computers…
