Apple has announced that it is launching the iTunes Store in 12 additional countries in Asia today. These countries include Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
The iTunes Store is Apple’s media outlet, which distributes music and movies to Mac, Windows and iOS users. Apple says that it is bringing both local and international content to the store for these regions. The App Store was previously launched in these areas.
The countries announced today are also getting Apple’s iTunes in the Cloud feature, which allows them to download previously purchased music and movies to any device from supported studios, as well as the iTunes Match service. iTunes Match, which lets users take their entire music library with them on iOS devices and Macs, requires an additional purchase.
Earlier today Apple launched its new standalone Podcasts app that allows people to download and enjoy video and audio podcasts.
