Hyundai Motor America CEO Tweets 2012 Veloster Will Start at $18,060

Hyundai Motor America CEO Tweets 2012 Veloster Will Start at $18,060:

Hyundai’s upcoming 2012 Veloster coupe/hatchback will start at $18,060, according to Hyundai Motor America CEO John Krafcik, who tweeted the news late last night. The CEO promised that full Veloster pricing will be available later this week. That base price is aggressive, and undercuts those of the similarly funky-cool Honda CR-Z, Mazda 3 hatchback, Ford Focus five-door, and Nissan Juke.

The Veloster is a four-door hatchback that features a single door on the left side, two on the right, and a rear hatch. The sporty Hyundai is powered by a direct-injected, 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 138 hp and is expected to return 40 mpg on the highway. Expect the 2012 Veloster to hit Hyundai dealerships by the end of the summer.
