Lingenfelter Introduces Production, Chevy Camaro–Based LTA Convertible [2012 SEMA Show]

Lingenfelter Introduces Production, Chevy Camaro–Based LTA Convertible [2012 SEMA Show]:
Lingenfelter LTA
After showing off a concept version of what it thinks a Pontiac Trans Am–ified modern Chevy Camaro might look like, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has debuted the production LTA convertible. The Camaro cum Trans Am redux was unveiled at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, and gets the classic ’70s Trans Am single-headlight look, split front grille, and a completely reworked rear-end that’s much more Pontiac than Chevy.
The LTA isn’t new—at least not in production form—Lingenfelter first showed off the 455 T/A concept previewing this car at SEMA several years ago. Apparently, consumers so pined for a production version that Lingenfelter relented, thus bringing the LTA to the world. Like the original concept, the LTA is based on a 2010–2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible. Three kits are available, with the first being a styling kit that brings the Trans-Am–style front and rear ends, Corsa exhaust, and Forgeline honeycomb wheels. The Level 2 LTA adds the show car’s unique blue interior, while Level 3 bundles all of the exterior and interior goodies with Lingenfelter’s 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter!) V-8 engine, in-house headers, Brembo brakes, and a beefed-up suspension. In case you were wondering, the Level 3 LTA’s 455 V-8 comes packing 655 hp. Power is routed through either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

We think the LTA looks incredible, and is probably a must have for heartbroken Pontiac fans who want a modern-day Trans Am. Just be sure to order one up with the 455—it’d be a pity to have all that show without much go.
