3M iPad minis and new iPads sold this weekend, Apple says

3M iPad minis and new iPads sold this weekend, Apple says:
The iPad mini launch wasn’t so mini after all. Apple sold 3 million iPads totally this past weekend, which includes both iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad units, after going on sale in 33 countries beginning Friday morning, the company announced Monday morning.
CEO Tim Cook said in a press release that the weekend launch “set a new launch weekend record” and that Apple had “practically sold out of iPad minis.” However, he did not say how many of the smaller tablets sold; the company chose not to break out the numbers.
The 3 million combined iPad sales this weekend is the same number of iPads that Apple sold during the first-weekend launch of the third-generation iPad back in March. However the comparison isn’t totally parallel. Both devices that went on sale Friday, the 7.9-inch iPad mini, and the 9.7-inch standard iPad, were available in Wi-Fi-only varieties. Versions with cellular connectivity will hit stores by the end of the month in the U.S. In March, about half of the 3 million sold were Wi-Fi-only, Apple noted Monday.
