PrePrint: Electronic Health Records in a Box - Integrated medical care in regional health care networks: Establishing a federated electronic health record (EHR) platform into a (regional) health care network is often a cumbersome task, especially when aiming at an easy-to-use, seamless, and yet secure integration. Security and privacy aspects are key issues that should be taken into account by applying privacy-by-design and hidden-security approaches. This article presents an innovative deployment concept for a federated and secure EHR platform that decouples document sources and EHR platform services, and hides security and privacy services.
