Flash vulnerability: No Internet Explorer 10 update until October

Flash vulnerability: No Internet Explorer 10 update until October:
Microsoft will introduce the final version Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8 with no word on availability of the browser in previous versions of the Windows operating system. IE10 is different from previous iterations for two core reasons. It first exists as a classic desktop version and modern UI version that differ significantly from each other. The modern UI version does not use plugins and is more restricted than the desktop version. To avoid issues with Flash-based websites, Microsoft has integrated Adobe’s Flash Player natively into Internet Explorer. Since it is no longer a plugin, both versions of Internet Explorer 10 are able to display Flash contents in the browser.
Another benefit is that updates for Adobe Flash can now be distributed via Microsoft’s own Windows Update service which guarantees a faster deployment ratio of the update. That is however only the case if Microsoft makes available the updates in time.
That is however currently not happening. The Adobe Flash update of August 2012 for instance fixed several security issues in previous versions of the technology, and it was recommended to users to update their installations of Flash to protect their systems from attacks targeting those vulnerabilities.

The only browser yet to receive an update? Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8. Even worse: Windows 8 users can’t update the version of the browser manually as updates are only available through Microsoft directly. This leaves Internet Explorer 10 vulnerable for now, and according to Everything Microsoft, for almost the next to months to come.
A Microsoft spokesperson mentioned that Microsoft would release a security update “through Windows Update in the GA timeframe”, which refers to the general availability of the operating system. And that is around October 26.
To avoid issues, it is recommended not to use Internet Explorer 10 to access Flash contents, or even better, switch to a different web browser at least for the time being to avoid any arising issues.
To do that, simply install a browser like Opera, Firefox or Google Chrome in Windows 8 and make it the default browser of the system.
