Worldwide IT leader Rackspace recently relocated the head of their UK Headquarters with the help of office design and relocation specialists, Morgan Lovell. The new space is designed to be an office that reflects the company’s ethos of being “The Home of Fanatical Support®” – as well as continuing their tradition of being one of the best companies to work for in the UK.
The project consolidated two Rackspace locations into a single 4-story, 100,000 sqft home in Hayes for its 620 employees.
Each level of the building brings different aspects of a home into the space. For example, the ground floor has garage-like styling complete with a Mini Cooper. The first floor is a ‘retro lounge’, the second is a ‘more traditional, library-type’ environment, and the third housing an array of picnic benches on grass-like flooring – an element I’ve pointed out as being increasingly popular.
Another fun element is the replica of 10 Downing Street, where a cardboard cutout of David Cameron welcomes employees into the conference room housed within.
Workstations are spread throughout the office and are in a very open layout – which employees have decorated with flags from around the world. It also looks as is there is a good deal of natural light throughout with it pouring in through the center atrium in addition to the exterior windows.
