Megapixels Don’t Matter, But PureView Does

Megapixels Don’t Matter, But PureView Does:
If you just upload your photos to Facebook, more camera megapixels don’t necessarily mean better. The photos displayed in your Facebook Timeline are resized to 404 x 404 pixels. If you make it a highlighted photo, it becomes 843 x 403 pixels. As a reminder, a 3 megapixel photo is about 2048 x 1536 pixels dimension. That’s even more resolution than the latest 13-inch Macbook Air screen which displays 1440 x 900 pixels.
What makes the Nokia 808 Pureview stand out from other cameras is its 41MP sensor. If you shoot in Pureview mode at 3MP, you’ll be able to zoom 3.6x without losing quality in image.
DPreview shows this in action at their Nokia 808 Pureview review.

Pureview technology takes advantage of the large sensor on the 808 that enables it to zoom in a different way from conventional digital zoom. Zooming on other phones will result in photos that look mushy or pixelated.
Since the Nokia 808 Pureview is also a smartphone, you’ll be able to upload your photos right away to Facebook. Interested in the Nokia 808 Pureview? It’s currently $627 USD at Amazon.
