Wikitude now open to augmented reality game developers

Wikitude now open to augmented reality game developers: Wikitude now open to augmented reality game developers
Wikitude is going beyond “basic” augmented reality and is including games to the mix as part of version 7.0 of its platform. As a result, developers utilizing Wikitude’s ARchitect Engine, will be able to make AR-based games that put digital characters around player’s surrounding. And already, there are 3 titles that take advantage of this technology, including:

  • Bubble Tap – in which players pop a series of bubbles floating around them. As you progress, the difficulty increases with longer series to pop, prompting you to physically rotate to get higher scores.

  • Spice Attack is an AR version of the classic game Space Invaders. However, instead of fighting green invaders, you’ll be battling seriously spicy chilis that would like to overheat “terra firma.”

  • Swat the Fly is a fast-paced bug crushing game and it’s your job to move and rotate to spot flies in the augmented reality view and quickly release a fly swatter to gain points.

Of course, you’ll need to have Wikitude installed on your smartphone in order to play these games. It’s available on a number of platforms and you should be able to find it in your app store of choice…
