Home & Away: make your holiday maxi dress work at home

Home & Away: make your holiday maxi dress work at home:
We're putting a little twist on our super popular '3 Ways To Wear' this month, with a new feature called 'Home & Away'.

Nope, we're not suddenly ditching fashion blogging in favour of Aussie soap operas (though we do love that Summer Bay High school Uniform...). Instead, we're looking at ways that your Summer holiday wardrobe can be reworked to allow you to wear it on slightly colder British shores.

It's difficult to justify big Summer purchases like floaty maxi dresses, cute playsuits and tiny shorts if you can't wear them for more than a couple of weeks each year when you're lazing on a beach, but hopefully with our outfit inspiration, you'll find ways of styling your Summer stuff so you can wear it for much longer.

Kicking off, we're styling the G21 Tropical print dress £20 George two very different ways.

On Holiday

Go for a bit of lazy glam with a 70s beach look if you're lucky enough to be going to a hot country this Summer. it's all about keeping cool and comfy, so team your maxi with flat sandals, feather earrings, big sunnies and a beach bag that'll hold everything you need on the beach. If you're feeling brave, add a bit of a Liz Taylor vibe with a turban! The clashing purple prints really work together, and you'll protect your scalp from the Sun!

At Home

Add a mish-mashed festival vibe to your maxi by taking a leaf out of Matthew Williamson's book and matching up your soft chiffon with a boyish parka. Not only is it practical if it rains, but worn loose with the sleeves rolled up, it instantly dresses down the look without looking too silly. Keep the laid-back feel going with a slouchy fringed bag, a few boho bracelets and wedge sandals (maxis work best when your toes are on show). You'd be surprised how look this looks in real life!
