Now that the long awaited Facebook IPO is behind us, we can take some time to dig a bit into a comparison where Facebook actually makes its money: advertising. While still a growing company trying to find its footing, Facebook has a tremendous reach and marketers are able to slice through demographic data to find very specific tribes of people’s interests.
Consider, though, that Google’s been at this game for quite some time now. Google’s ad formats, re-targeting, and display network are much more mature products than Facebook’s attempts to date.
So who will be the winner? Google for now but ultimately still a bit early to declare a winner. This infographic, courtesy of Wordstream, provides a good analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of both Internet superpowers.
